Medical Assisting

Associate of Applied Science

Medical assistants are vital in today's rapidly changing health care system. If you pursue a career in medical assisting, you may work directly with patients by assisting physicians with routine medical exams, recording vital signs and medical histories, and explaining treatment procedures to patients and their families.

Career Avenues

The objective of the medical assisting program is to prepare you with the knowledge, technical skills, and work habits needed to seek an entry-level position as a medical assistant. Bauder College’s medical assisting curriculum can provide you with the skills necessary to work the front or back office in a physician's office, health department, clinic, or other medical facility.

Professional Responsibilities

Upon completion of the program, you should be able to administer injections, take and read patients’ vital signs, assist in minor surgical procedures, perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and basic first aid, complete and code medical insurance documents, manage a physician's office, perform charting and related documentation duties, and perform venipuncture.
